Wojeck, starring the late John Vernon, was one of the most successful programs on CBC. Ronald Weyman, executive producer, co-created this program about Greg Corwin who was a cutting edge psychiatrist. Corwin’s specialty was working in the inner-city instead of his lucrative private practise. Sandy Stern, who created Wojeck and was educated in medical sciences, vouched for this authentic new series. Although it was a moderate success with viewers, this big budget production had little support from critics. Even the star, John Horton, said he was depressed by the end of the series. The show did showcase some decent acting talent, including Margot Kidder as Denny in the first episode, Eileen Heckart, Nehemiah Persoff, Eric Christmas, Jane Mallett, Ron Hartmann, and Deborah Turnbull.
