Originated in Montreal featuring serious and classical music, with an emphasis on chamber music. The premiere (l4 October l954) featured Sir Ernest MacMillan, and the program promised such future conductors as Wilfred Pelletier, Boyd Neel, and Roland Leduc. Performers included international and Canadian stars, such as Andres Segovia, John Newmark, Joseph Szigeti, Maureen Forrester, and Elizabeth Schwarzkopf. Produced by Pierre Mercure and Noel Gauven, and the stage director was Irving Gutman.
