Sol et Gobelet

Network: Société Radio-Canada (SRC) TV Network

Broadcast Run: 1968 to 1971

Broadcast Medium: Television

This young people’s program was broadcast right up until 1971. Written by Luc Durand and Marc Favreau, the two authors were also the two main actors in this show, Favreau as Sol and Durand as Gobelet. This pair of clowns, who lived in a wacky apartment, where all kinds of kooky things would happen, were a veritable small screen phenomenon. At one point in time, nearly a million TV viewers were closely following the adventures of Sol et Gobelet.

The Sol character had first appeared in the Sol et Bim (Louis de Santis) show, and then in Sol et Bouton (Yvon Dufour).

After the TV series came to an end, Marc Favreau took his Sol character to the stage beginning in 1972, where Sol became a stand up solo performer who subtly made his audiences reflect upon the human condition with a rich and relentless play on words.
