2006
On May 15, the CRTC approved an application by Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. for a broadcasting licence to operate a new English-language, commercial FM radio station in Moose Jaw. Competing applications by Kevin Shattock and Harvard Broadcasting Inc. were denied. Golden West already owned and operated two stations in the market: CHAB (Greatest Hits music format) and CILG-FM (Country music format). The new station would offer an Adult Contemporary music format with a broad range of popular music. Golden West made a commitment to broadcast Canadian content levels that exceed the minimum requirements. The new station would broadcast on a frequency of 103.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts.
2008
On April 22 at 10:39 a.m., CJAW-FM “Mix 103.9” signed on the air with an Adult Contemporary format. The station would focus on local news, information, events and a blend of rock, pop and AC from the last 25 years woven together with today’s multi-format hits. Studios and offices were co-located with CHAB and CILG-FM at 1704 Main Street North. Darryl Pisio was station manager.
2010
On March 29, the CRTC approved the application by 101142236 Saskatchewan Ltd. for authority to acquire, as part of a corporate reorganization, the assets of CHAB, CILG-FM and CJAW-FM Moose Jaw from Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. The Commission noted that the transaction approved in this decision was effected on 1 September 2009 through the transfer, from Golden West to 101142236 Saskatchewan, of all assets and liabilities relating to CHAB, CILG-FM and CJAW-FM. As a result of the transaction, 101142236 Saskatchewan would become the licensee of these undertakings. The corporate reorganization was for estate planning and did not affect the effective control of these undertakings, which continued to be exercised by Golden West through its wholly owned subsidiary 101142236 Saskatchewan. Golden West is indirectly controlled by Mr. Elmer Hildebrand. The Commission noted that the above-mentioned transaction was subject to a prior approval requirement pursuant to subsection 11(4) of the Radio Regulations, 1986 (the Regulations). The Commission reminded 101142236 Saskatchewan that full compliance with the Regulations is required at all times.
2012
On August 17, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CJAW-FM to August 31, 2013.
