It is uncertain when the station was licensed and then began broadcasting. According to the CRTC’s records, CKUJ had its licence renewed in 1986.
1991
On October 22, Club de Récréation Kuujjuaq Pinguatisijingit received CRTC approval to change CKUJ’s frequency from 90.1 MHz to 97.3 MHz, to increase the effective radiated power from 0.28 watts to 842 watts, and to relocate the transmitter to a site 0.5 kilometres to the west of Kuujjuaq.
1996
On June 21, the CRTC again approved CKUJ-FM’s move from 90.1 to 97.3 MHz. This time a power increase would be for 394 watts. The transmitter would be moved to a new site 300 metres west of Kuujjuaq.
