1933

The Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission opened CRCS on September 20.Programming was in English & French.
 

1936

In November, the CRBC was replaced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. 
 

1938

CRCS became CBJ on October 16.
 

1941

Under the Havana Treaty, CBJ moved from 1120 kHz to 1240 kHz (Class IV) on March 29. Power remained 100 watts.
 

Undated

Power increased to 250 watts.
 

1942-43

CBJ increased power from 250 watts to 1,000 watts.
 

1945

CBC Quebec Regional Network: CBF, CBV, CBJ.

Vilmont Fortin was manager of CBJ. 
 

1946

The CBC announced plans to increase CBJ’s power to 10,000 watts. 

1947

The CBC was making progress on building the new 10,000 watt transmitter site for CBJ. The new transmitter had been ordered for the new antenna site, located between Chicoutimi and Jonquiere. The new facility would replace the existing 1,000 watt operation at Chicoutimi. When completed, the 10 kW CBJ would use a single directional pattern. 

Studios and offices were at 286-A Racine Street. The transmitter was located at 4 Larouche Avenue.

1949

Vilmont Fortin was manager.

1966

CBJ opened a rebroadcaster at Chapais on December 7.

1974

CBJ-FM stereo signed on the air on the air.

1977

CBJ was given approval to increase power to 50,000 watts from a new transmitter site.

1981

On October 5, CBJ opened a rebroadcast transmitter at Dolbeau.

1982

CBJ’s rebroadcaster at Chibougamau opened on March 21.

1984

On May 22, CBJ was authorized to add transmitters at Petit-Saguenay on 1140 kHz with power of 40 watts, and L’Anse-Saint-Jean, 990 kHz with power of 40 watts.  

1986

The L’Anse-Saint-Jean and Petit-Saguenay transmitters opened on February 28.

1997

The Radio-Canada (mono) network was renamed “Première Chaîne” on September 1.

1998

On July 8, CBJ was given approval to convert to the FM band, operating on 93.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts. In addition to network programming, CBJ would offer 32 hours and 20 minutes of local programming per week.  The CBC indicated that it would continue to operate its transmitters CBJ-2 Chapais, CBJ-1-FM Chibougamau, CBJ-3-FM Dolbeau, CBJ-4 L’Anse-Saint-Jean and CBJ-5 Petit Saguenay.

On December 28, CBJ moved from 1580 on the AM dial to 93.7 FM as CBJ-FM. CBJ-FM (chaîne culturelle) became CBJX-FM. CBJ-AM left the air a few months after the conversion to FM.

2000

On October 5, approval was given for CBJ to add a transmitter at La Baie, operating on frequency 93.7 MHz, with an effective radiated power of 8.9 watts. The transmitter would correct the lack of direct signal in the downtown areas of La Baie.

The La Baie transmitter went on the air November 3.
 

2001

As of this year, CBJ-FM operated the following transmitters: CBJ-1-FM Chibougamau, CBJ-2 Chapais, CBJ-4 L’Anse-St-Jean, CBJ-5 Petit-Saguenay, CBJ-FM-3 Dolbeau and CBJ-FM-6 La Baie. CBJ-FM broadcasts approximately 40 hours of local programming each week from Chicoutimi.

On September 21, CBJ-FM-6 La Baie was authorized to increase effective radiated power from 8.9 watts to 15.5 watts.

2003

On April 29, CBJ-FM was authorized to add a transmitter in L’Anse-Saint-Jean. It would operate on a frequency of 101.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 740 watts. The new transmitter would replace the low-power transmitters CBJ-4 L’Anse-Saint-Jean and CBJ-5 Petit-Saguenay and improve the signal quality in this area.

On October 9, CBJ was given approval to decrease the effective radiated power of the new transmitter in L’Anse-Saint-Jean from 740 watts to 510 watts. The proposed change was intended to improve the contour by using a directional antenna rather than a non-directional antenna.

2009

On May 12 the CRTC renewed CBJ-FM’s licence. The renewal included the following rebroadcast transmitters: CBJ-2 Chapais, CBJ-FM-1 Chibougamau, CBJ-FM-3 Dolbeau, CBJ-FM-4 L’Anse-St-Jean, and CBJ-FM-6 La Baie.

2010

On August 9, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CBJ-FM (and its transmitters) to August 31, 2011.

2011

On August 25, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CBJ-FM and its transmitters to March 1, 2013.

2013

On February 22, the CRTC administratively renewed the licences for CBJ-FM Chicoutimi and its transmitters to August 31, 2013.

On May 28, the CRTC renewed the licence of CBJ-FM Saguenay and its transmitters CBJ-FM-1 Chibougamau, CBJ-FM-3 Dolbeau, CBJ-FM-4 L’Anse-St-Jean, CBJ-FM-6 La Baie, and CBJ-2 Chapais, for a five year term, to August 31, 2018.

2014

On May 22, the CRTC approved the application by the CBC to change the frequency of CBJ-FM-6 La Baie from 93.7 to 102.1 MHz and to increase the maximum ERP from 85.7 to 544 watts. 

2016

On September 13, the CRTC approved the CBC’s application to change the authorized contours of CBJ-FM-6 La Baie by increasing the average effective radiated power from 98 to 194 watts (maximum ERP increasing from 544 to 1,138 watts) and by decreasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 32.1 to 25.8 metres.

2018

On October 15, the CRTC approved the CBC’s application to change the authorized contours of CBJ-FM-4 L’Anse-Saint-Jean by installing a new non-directional antenna, increasing the average ERP from 510 to 850 watts, decreasing the maximum ERP from 970 to 850 watts, decreasing the EHAAT from 224.8 to 194 metres and updating the existing coordinates.
