2001
On October 4, Newcap Inc. was granted a licence for a dance music station, operating on 89.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 27,000 watts.
2003
In January, the new station began broadcast tests.
CIHT-FM officially signed on the air on February 7, at 12 noon as “Hot 89.9”. The HT in the call sign: “Hot”. Studios and offices were co-located with Standard Radio’s CKQB-FM at 1504 Merivale Road.
2005
On November 1, Hot 89.9 began broadcasting from new studios and offices at 1500 Merivale Road in Ottawa. The station had shared space in the CTV Ottawa (CJOH) building with Standard Radio’s CKQB-FM (“The Bear”), across the street from the new location.
2007
CIHT-FM and CILV-FM moved to new studios and offices on November 26. The new address was 6 Antares Drive, Phase 1 – Unit 100, Ottawa.
2010
The New HOT 89-9 welcomed Krista Datars as swing announcer as of May 25.
Ian Balfour became Retail Sales Manager at Hot 89.9 FM/LiVE 88.5. He had been Assistant General Manager at the Steele Communications’ Western Newfoundland and Labrador stations.
2011
A fire at the Camp Fortune transmitter site knocked HOT 899 (CIHT) off the air December 7. The station was back on the air later in the day.
Jessica Murphy left Quinte Broadcasting’s promotions team for a promotions position at Newcap’s Hot 89.9 and Live 88.5 in Ottawa.
2012
On June 22, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CIHT-FM until November 30, 2012.
Ryan Lindsay left Hot 89.9 for sister station 90.3 AMP Calgary where he would host the morning show.
On October 22, the CRTC renewed CIHT-FM’s licence to August 31, 2019.
2018
On October 23, the CRTC approved an application by Newfoundland Capital Corporation Limited, on behalf of Newcap Inc. and its licensed broadcasting subsidiaries, for authorization to effect a change in the ownership and effective control of various radio and television broadcasting undertakings in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, so that effective control of the undertakings would be exercised by Eric Boyko (Stingray Digital Group Inc.). Stingray took ownership of the stations just a few days later.
