1989

On April 27, the CRTC approved the application for a licence for an English-and native-language FM radio broadcasting transmitting undertaking at Watson Lake on the frequency 99.9 MHz, channel 260, with an effective radiated power of 0.6 watts to broadcast locally-produced programming. The licence would expire August 31, 1991. This term would enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence at the same time as that of other radio stations in the area.

1991

On August 12, the CRTC renewed the licence of CHWA-FM until August 31, 1996.

1996

On August 30, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CHWA-FM until December 31, 1996.

On December 20, for administrative reasons, the CRTC renewed the licence for CHWA-FM to June 30, 1997.

1997

On May 15, the CRTC renewed the licence for CHWA-FM until December 31, 1997. This administrative renewal was granted solely because the Commission was not in a position to rule on the licence renewal application before the expiry of the term of the current licence.

On June 10, the CRTC approved the application to amend the licence for CHWA-FM Watson Lake, by changing the frequency from 99.9 MHz (channel 260) to 102.1 MHz (channel 271) and by increasing the effective radiated power from 0.6 watt to 5 watts.

On September 24, the CRTC approved the the application for authority to acquire the assets of the radio programming undertaking CHWA-FM Watson Lake from Liard Broadcasting Society. The Commission issued a licence to Liard First Nation FM Society, expiring August 31, 2003. The licence term granted, while less than the maximum of seven years permitted under the Broadcasting Act, would enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence in accordance with the Commission’s regional plan and to better distribute the workload within the Commission. The Commission also approved the applicant’s proposal to amend the licence for CHWA-FM by adding a transmitter at Upper Liard, operating on the frequency 99.9 MHz, channel 260VLP, with an effective radiated power of 1 watt.

2003

On August 11, the CRTC renewed the licence for the Type A native radio programming undertaking CHWA-FM Watson Lake and its transmitter VF2330 at Upper Liard, to August 31, 2010.

2010

On June 4, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CHWA-FM and its transmitter VF2330 Upper Laird until August 31, 2011.

2011

On August 31, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CHWA-FM and its transmitter VF2330 Upper Laird until August 31, 2012. The Commission noted that licence renewal applications for this station had not been received. If the licence renewal application was not been received by November 30, 2011, the Commission may not renew the licence further.

2012

On September 4, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CHWA-FM Watson Lake and its transmitter VF2330 Upper Liard to February 28, 2013.
