2008
On August 21, the CRTC licensed a new radio station to serve Drumheller when it approved the application by Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. A number of competing applications were denied. The new station would broadcast on 99.5 MHz (channel 258A) with an effective radiated power of 3,600 watts. It would offer an Adult contemporary format with 10% of all musical selections broadcast during each broadcast week to be devoted to selections drawn from content subcategory 32 (Folk and folk-oriented). The target audience would be 25-50 years. The applicant proposed a Canadian content music offering of 40% category 2; local programming per broadcast week: 126 hours; spoken word programming per broadcast week: 12 hours and 48 minutes; news programming per broadcast week: 10 hours and 57 minutes; and live-to-air programming per broadcast week: 87 hours.

CHOO 99.5 (“Drum FM”) signed on the air with a Hot Adult Contemporary format on April 28.
2019
On July 15, the CRTC approved the application by Stingray Radio to acquire CHOO-FM from Golden West Broadcasting.
