On November 12, Global announced that their new original 10 – 1-hour medical dramaNurses would premiere on the network on Monday, January 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. From Entertainment One (eOne) and ICF Films, the coming-of-age series followed five young nurses working on the frontlines of a busy downtown Toronto hospital, dedicating their lives to helping others, while struggling to help themselves..
Nurses starred an ensemble cast of young talent. Grace Knight (Tiera Skovbye), a young nurse looking for a fresh start, Ashley Collins (Natasha Calis), a wild and unapologetic adrenaline junky, Keon Colby (Jordan Johnson-Hinds), a former college football star, Nazneen Khan (Sandy Sidhu), a whip-smart daughter of a wealthy family in India who moved to Canada to reinvent herself, and Wolf Burke (Donald MacLean Jr), soft hearted and playful.
Nurses was produced by ICF Films, eOne in association with Piazza Entertainment and Corus Entertainment, with the participation of the Canada Media Fund and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit.
Executive Producers were Ilana Frank, Linda Pope , Vanessa Piazza , Adam Pettle, Jocelyn Hamilton and Tassie Cameron, with Julie Puckrin as Co-executive Producer.
Unusually, before the series had even premiered, Global announced in December that Nurses had been given an order for a second series of ten episodes. On June 23rd 2020, Global announed that Nurses would return to the schedule in 2021.
