This half-hour music series was hosted by Ian Tyson, with his Great Speckled Bird back-up group, and then-wife Sylvia guesting on many of the shows. In its second season, the series title was changed to Nashville Now, and in year three it became simply The Ian Tyson Show. An early guest on the series was Gordon Lightfoot, and among other Canadian and US guests who appeared were Anne Murray, Conway Twitty, Van Morrison, Stompin’ Tom Connors and Murray McLauchlan.
The series was produced for CTV in the studios of CFTO-TV Toronto, and ran under its various titles for five years, from September 1970 to the end of the 1974-75 season. It started on Mondays at 8:00pm, moving later to Tuesdays at 8:30pm, then 9:30pm. In the fall of 1973, it moved to Thursdays at 7:00pm, returning to Mondays at 7:00pm and then 8:00pm in its final season.
