Hosted by two teens, Mark Foerster and Stephanie Black, for several years, also by another teen team Dawn Collins and Johnny Russo, Kidsbeat was a weekly news magazine show for children and teens. The show not only focused on news and current events but also included music, movies, fashion, lifestyle and issues that were considered important to the youth of the day, such as missing children, protecting children’s safety, and children affected by war. Live interviews with famous role models and musical guests, along with interviews with authors about new Canadian books that relate to kids, were also featured. Contributing reporters included Rob Davidson, Carolyn Galvin, Jackie Roberts and Alanna Schacht.
Run as a junior edition of Global News, the young people who worked in front of and behind the cameras were given the opportunity to report, write, produce and edit segments that were included in each program.
