On June 4th 2010 CTVglobemedia and Discovery Communications announced the reneal of a joint venture that would involve the launch of three new cable channels, one of which would involve re rebranding of the Discovery HD channel as Discovery World HD.
The new channel promised ” breathtaking landscapes, fascinating people and incredible stories from around the world”, and undertook to offer “an unparalleled sensory experience that explore(d) life’s most amazing journeys”.
Features promised included “… the doomed, the brave and the survivors in the epic television event Last Day of the Dinosaurs…..”. as well as an exploration of the Cosomos with Morgan Freeman, the BBC series South Pacific, and an original Canadian series: Savage – with Dave Salmoni, which would reveal how to survive an animal attack.
The new channel was scheduled to debut on August 2nd 2010.
