Bordertown

Network: CTV Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1989 to 1993

Broadcast Medium: Television

Set in the 1880s, this half-hour drama series told the tales of a U.S. Marshal and a North West Mounted Police Corporal who enforced the law in the mythical town of Pemmican, which straddled the US/Canada border between Alberta and Montana.
John H. Brennan played the Canadian, Corporal Clive Bennett, while Richard Comor played his US comrade-in-arms Marshal Craddock. Sophie Barjac played Dr. Marie Dumont, whose affections were coveted by both lawmakers, and Fritz Bergold played Otto Danzinger, the blacksmith. Prior to his stage success as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, Michael Burgess was one of many guest stars who appeared in this series.

Produced for CTV by Alliance Entertainment, Bordertown entered the Network schedule in September 1989 on Tuesdays at 7:30pm. It moved to 9:30pm the following year in response to a CRTC demand for Canadian programming after 8pm. The series went on hiatus for a year in 1991-92, but returned in the fall of 1992 on Saturdays at 8:30pm, where it survived for one more year.
