After a failed attempt by NBC in the U.S. to revitalize an older black and white version of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (circa 1960’s), a Canadian company, Paragon Motion Pictures (Toronto) took on the challenge to relaunch the show which ran on Global.
Alfred Hitchcock
The show presented an updated, contemporary version of the classic twisting Hitchcock tales. Paragon used Hitchcock intros, now colourized, with newly filmed scripts and new stories, featuring acclaimed Canadian directors (including Atom Egoyan, Timothy Bond, Vic Sarin, Allan King and William Fruet) and actors, as well as some international actors (primarily American). This series won an ACE Award for Cable Excellence in 1987.
CEO of Paragon and one of the executive producers of this series, Jonathan Slan, also produced the highly successful series Philip Marlow, Private Eye.
