With a strong cast – Chris Wiggins, Diana Leblanc, Heather Graham, Mickey O’Neill and Michael Duhig – and excellent writing, this half-hour CTV series showed great promise, but succumbed to budgetary problems after building quite a respectable audience. Johann Wyss’s famous book was faithfully recreated for television, with Jamaican location material edited in with Toronto studio production.
Swiss Family Robinson made its first appearance in the CTV schedule in September 1974, on Fridays at 7:00pm, but this quality series lasted for only one year – to be replaced in the fall of 1975 by Celebrity Dominoes!
