CKRT-DT

CKRT’s studios and offices moved from Mont-Bleu into Rivière-du-Loup following a fire the previous year. The fire had put the station off the air for nine days.

CKRT-TV opened CKRT-TV-2 at Degelis on August 28. CKRT-TV-3 Riviere-du-Loup was added December 9. CKRT-TV received approval to change the channels of CKRT-TV-1 Baie St. Paul and CKRT-TV-3 Riviere-du-Loup.

Radio-Canada began offering programs in colour. 

CKRT-TV-4 opened at Cabano on February 21. 

The St. Urbain rebroadcaster – CKRT-TV-5 – was opened on May 13.  Gerard Simon was vice president.

Approval was granted for CKRT-TV to add a transmitter at Trois-Pistoles, broadcasting on channel 5 with directional power of five watts.

The Trois-Pistoles transmitter – CKRT-TV-6 – began broadcasting on December 20.

On January 4, approval was given for the transfer of 3% of the common and preferred shares of CKRT-TV Ltee from Lucette B. Simard to Gerrard Simon., CKRT began airing local programming in colour.

By this time, CKRT-TV operated the following rebroadcast transmitters: CKRT-TV-1 Baie St-Paul, CKRT-TV-2 Ville Degalis, CKRT-TV-3 Riviere-du-Loup and CKRT-TV-4 at Cabano.

Approval was given to change the channel of CKRT-TV-5 St-Urbain from 5 to 10. It would continue to operate with five watts, directional.

CKRT-TV Ltee. opened CIMT-TV, a TVA affiliate. 

A change of antenna site was approved for CKRT-TV’s rebroadcaster at Degelis. 

The transfer of 53% control of CKRT-TV Ltee from G. P. Simon to Tele-Inter Rives Ltee was approved. 

By this time, CKRT-TV operated the following transmitters: CKRT-TV Rivière-du-Loup, CKRT-TV-1 Baie Saint-Paul, CKRT-TV-2 Dégelis, CKRT-TV-3 Rivière-du-Loup, CKRT-TV-4 Cabano, CKRT-TV-5 Saint-Urbain, CKRT-TV-6 Trois-Pistoles.   

CKRT-TV Ltee. opened CFTF-TV, a TQS affiliate.  

On February 15, the CRTC approved the application to amend the licence for CKRT-TV by adding the following condition of licence: In addition to the 12 minutes of advertising material permitted by subsection 11(1) of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987, the licensee may broadcast more than 12 minutes of advertising material in any clock hour in a broadcast day, in order to broadcast infomercials as defined in Public Notice CRTC 1994-139 and in accordance with the criteria contained in that public notice, as amended.  

On August 27 the CRTC renewed until August 31, 2016, the licence of CKRT-TV and its transmitters (CKRT-TV-1 Baie-Saint-Paul, CKRT-TV-2 Dégelis, CKRT-TV-3 Rivière-du-Loup, CKRT-TV-4 Cabano, CKRT-TV-5 Saint-Urbain and CKRT-TV-6 Trois-Pistoles). Conditions of licence include: The licensee shall broadcast not less than two hours and 45 seconds of local programming in each broadcast week. 

The CRTC approved the change to the ownership of Quebecor Media Inc. through the transfer of the shares held by Capital d’Amérique CDPQ inc. in QMI to CDP Capital d’Amérique Investissement inc., another CDPQ subsidiary. This transaction does not affect the effective control of QMI and of its licensee subsidiaries. QMI owns, through TVA Group Inc. and Videotron Ltd., broadcasting distribution undertakings, television programming undertakings, a pay-per-view undertaking, specialty services and a video-on-demand undertaking. 

On June 18, the CRTC approved the application by CKRT-TV ltée to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CKRT-TV Rivière-du-Loup in order to add a digital transmitter at Rivière-du-Loup. The transmitter would operate on channel 7 with an effective radiated power of 7,000 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 345.1 metres). 

The CRTC approved an application by CKRT-TV ltée. for the addition of post-transitional Digital Television transmitters for CKRT-TV Rivière-du-Loup at Baie-Saint-Paul, Dégelis, Rivière-du-Loup (Portage), Cabano, St-Urbain and Trois-Pistoles. The new transmitter would operate on channel 36 with an average effective radiated power of 53 watts (maximum ERP of 150 watts), using a directional antenna. The existing CKRT-TV tower would be used.

August 31 was the deadline for the conversion of analog television stations to digital in mandatory markets. CKRT-TV and its rebroadcast transmitters made the change-over on September 1. The retransmitters were not in mandatory markets so their transition was done on a voluntary basis. CKRT-TV continued to broadcast on channel 7 (virtual channel 7.1) as CKRT-DT. CKRT-TV-1 Baie-Saint-Paul moved from channel 2 to channel 36 as CKRT-DTV-1. CKRT-TV-2 Dégelis moved from channel 2 to channel 25 as CKRT-DT-2. CKRT-TV-3 Notre-Dame-du-Portage remained on channel 13 as CKRT-DT-3. CKRT-TV-4 Cabano moved from channel 5 to channel 21 as CKRT-DT-4. CKRT-TV-5 Saint-Urbain moved from channel 10 to channel 35 as CKRT-DT-5. CKRT-TV-6 Trois-Pistoles moved from channel 5 to channel 19 as CKRT-DT-6. 

In May, Télé Inter-Rives announced that CKRT-DT and its six rebroadcast transmitters would be shut down on August 31. Since going on the air in 1962, CKRT-DT had been an ICI Radio-Canada Télé affiliate. The public broadcaster decided not to renew the affiliation agreement. Télé Inter-Rives filed an application with the CRTC to have the licence revoked.

On June 18, the CRTC approved the application by CKRT-TV ltée to revoke the licence of CKRT-DT as of August 31, 2021. Transmitters CKRT-TV-1 Baie-Saint-Paul, CKRT-TV-2 Dégelis, CKRT-TV-3 Rivière-du-Loup, CKRT-TV-4 Cabano, CKRT-TV-5 Saint-Urbain and CKRT-TV-6 Trois-Pistoles were included in the revocation.
