On July 2, 2010, Jay Switzer was given approval by the CRTC for four new specialty channels, including VELOCITY and ADVENTURE – featuring action and adventure; and KISS and THE LOVE CHANNEL, featuring romance, love and relationships. All four channels launched on November 23, 2011, branded as Hollywood Suite. The four channels were later rebranded as: WarnerFilms (Warner Brothers films), MGM Channel (MGM films), Hollywood Storm (action-oriented films), and Hollywood Festival (romantic films). On September 4, 2012, Hollywood Suite re-launched two of its channels under Sony brands, with Hollywood Storm becoming AXN Movies and Hollywood Festival becoming the Sony Movie Channel. On November 2, 2015, Hollywood Suite re-launched the channels. The studio-based brands were dropped and each of the four channels was now devoted to a specific decade: 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. Jay Switzer passed away January 29, 2018. He was one of the founders of Hollywood Suite.
