CJMC-FM

On February 25, Roger Vallee was awarded a licence for a new AM station at Ste-Anne-des-Monts – operating on 1490 kHz with 1,000 watts day / 250 watts night (omnidirectional).

CJMC 1490 signed on the air on November 10.

Radio-Cote Nord Inc. was authorized to acquire a two-thirds interest in Radio du Golfe Inc. (CJMC).

Radio du Golfe Inc. had its application for 50 watt rebroadcasters denied. The transmitters would have been located at Murdochville, Grande-Valle, Marsoui and Mont-Louis, and would have carried the programming of CJMC. Three of the proposed transmitters presented serious technical problems by exceeding D.O.C. standards for low-power installations. A competing application by CHNC for an AM station at Murdochville was approved.

On August 12, CJMC was given permission to affiliate with Radiomutuel.

Gestion J. & R. Vallée Inc. purchased Radio du Golfe Inc. (owner of CJMC) from
Radio Côte-Nord Inc. (66 2/3%) and Roger Vallée (33 1/3%).

On December 13, CJMC was given approval to increase night-time power from 250 watts to 1,000 watts.

CJMC was given approval to add a number of FM rebroadcast transmitters to expand its service area. The transmitters would be located at Grande-Vallee (92.7 MHz, 15 watts), Marsoui (92.9 MHz, 15 watts), Mont-Louis (92.7 MHz, 15 watts), and Murdochville (92.9 MHz, 50 watts).

CJMC was granted a licence on December 7 to convert the station to the FM band, operating on 100.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 15,150 watts. CJMC would  continue to operate CJMC-FM-1 Marsoui, CJMC-FM-2 Mont-Louis, CJMC-FM-3 Murdochville and CJMC-FM-4 Grande-Vallée. 

CJMC made the move from AM to FM.

CJMC-FM was given permission to decrease effective radiated power from 15,150 to 2,510 watts. 

CJMC was granted authority to add transmitters at Les Méchins, La Martre, Gros Morne, Cloridorme, Rivière-à-Claude, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts est and Murdochville.

Approval was given for CJMC to add a transmitter at Pabos Mills.

On August 9, Radio du Golfe inc. was given approval to operate a new station at Chandler and to delete CJMC’s transmitter in Pabos Mills. 

On June 30, the CRTC renewed the broadcasting licence for the French-language commercial radio station CJMC-FM Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and its transmitters from 1 July 2010 to 31 August 2013. This short-term licence renewal will enable the Commission to review, at an earlier date, the licensee’s compliance with the Radio Regulations, 1986 and its conditions of licence. In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2009-786, the Commission stated that the licensee may have failed to comply with section 9(2) of the Radio Regulations, 1986, which relates to the provision of annual returns, for the 2003 to 2008 broadcast years inclusively. The Commission also stated that the licensee may have failed to comply with its condition of licence relating to contributions to Canadian talent development for the 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008 broadcast years.
