On April 17, the CRTC approved the application by Eternacom Inc. for a broadcasting licence to carry on a low-power English-language FM radio programming undertaking at Sudbury, on the frequency 102.9 MHz, channel 275LP, with an effective radiated power of 33 watts. The licence would expire August 31, 2006. The applicant proposed a tourist information service. Programming would consist of recorded announcements regarding tourist attractions, community events and special activities. On occasion, the station would broadcast “live on location” in order to promote special events. Programming would consist of one-hour pre-recorded announcements repeated throughout each 24-hour period. In the area of music, there would be incidental background music only.

CKBB-FM began broadcasting.

2005

CKBB left the air due to funding issues but continued to have its licence renewed.

2013

On November 21, the CRTC issued an exemption order for low-power radio stations that provided tourist information. It came into effect immediately. Licensees of radio stations that considered their operations to be eligible for exemption under the order could file a simple statement asking that the Commission revoke their licences. CKBB’s licence was set to expire August 31, 2014.
