1997

On October 2, The University of Manitoba Students’ Union was granted a licence for a new FM campus/community station at Winnipeg, operating on 101.5 MHz, with an effective radiated power of 1,200 watts. 

1998

On September 4th, at 6:00 p.m., CJUM-FM signed on the air.

2007

On August 7 the CRTC renewed CJUM’s licence to August 31, 2014. The Commission requires that the board of directors of CJUM-FM include balanced representation from among the student body, the associated university (for example, faculty or administration), station volunteers, and the community at large. To ensure continuity of direction, the Commission also requires CJUM-FM to establish positions on their boards of directors with terms of at least two years during this next licensing term.

2014

On October 30, the CRTC approved the applications by UMFM Campus Radio Inc. for authority to acquire from The University of Manitoba Students’ Union the assets of CJUM-FM.
