2002
On August 28, Golden West Broadcasting Ltd., owner of CHRB 1140, was granted a licence for an FM station in High River/Okotoks. The new station would operate at 100.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts. All of the programming broadcast on the new station would be local, and it would offer an eclectic music format targeting listeners in the 18 to 54 age group.
2003
The new station began on-air testing in April, and signed on the air at 7 a.m., August 29. CFXL was known as “The Eagle” and had a format featuring all hits, all the time – a 70s based sound with some music from the 60s and 80s. Digital studios were located in both High River (#11-5th Avenue S. E.) and Okotoks.
2007
Golden West launched its third station in the High River/Okotoks market – CFXO-FM.
2009
On June 15 the CRTC approved an increase of antenna height (EHAAT) for CFXL-FM from 302.5 to 342.2 metres. The station would broadcast from a new antenna site – the same one proposed for CFUL-FM. CFXL-FM said the changes would allow it to reduce operating costs and provide improved operating and maintenance efficiencies.
2015
On April 29, The Eagle 100.9 changed from Classic Rock to Hot Adult Contemporary. The first song played was Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off.
