Rick Phillips hosted this program of new Classical Music releases. He provided unpretentious critical evaluation of the standard repertoire, and featured an always interesting and unusual “music quiz” at the end of each broadcast. The purpose of the program was to demystify the thousands of classical music recordings available by comparing and contrasting different performances with an ear to what was good. Philips wrote a book called, “Essential Classical Recordings 101 CDs” in 2005.
