On March 24, Isadore H. Peltier, on behalf of Chimnissing Communications was granted a licence for an English-and Native-language FM station at Christian Island. The new station would broadcast 56 hours each week of local programming of which approximately 2.5% would be in the Ojibway language. The station would cover community events in Christian Island and offer news from a native perspective. The new station would operate on 101.3 MHz, with an effective radiated power of 900 watts.

2002

CKUN-FM signed on the air.

2004

On July 23 the CRTC approved an application by Chimnissing Communications to change the authorized contours of CKUN-FM Christian Island by increasing the antenna height from 22.6 metres to 47.6 metres. The increase in the antenna height is to resolve interference problems that will be caused by the technical changes approved in 2003 for CIQB-FM Barrie.

2006

On June 13 the CRTC renewed CKUN-FM's licence until August 31, 2013. The Commission noted that the station would continue to broadcast 56 hours per week of local programming, of which approximately 2.5% would be in the Ojibway language. The station would continue to cover community events in Christian Island and broadcast news from a native perspective.

2013

On June 21, the CRTC administratively renewed CKUN-FM's licence to August 31, 2014. The Commission noted that it had not received the licence renewal application for CKUN-FM. If the application was not received by November 29, 2013, the licence may not be renewed.
