CFID-FM, Community - Radio Acton, Acton Vale
Les résidents locaux Gaëtan Chevanelle, Bertrand Dupont et Sylvie Dupont commençaient à élaborer un projet en vue d'établir une station de radio communautaire locale à Acton Vale. Ils avaient formé une société à but non lucratif appelée Radio-Acton inc.
In the course of some experimental broadcasting in the summer, sufficient volunteers came forward and gained the experience that would be needed to get the new station on the air.
On April 16th, Radio-Acton Inc was granted a six year licence, to expire on August 31st 2010, to operate a Type B community radio programming undertaking in Acton Vale QC. The station would operate at 103.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 1650 watts. The station would broadcast 126 hours of programming weekly; a minimum of 110 hours would be devoted to station-produced programming. The programming would consist of local and regional news, sports, weather, current events, features and emergency broadcast services.
CFID-FM went on the air for the first time on August 15th.
On June 13th, the CRTC approved an application by CFID-FM for permission to change the authorized contours of the station by increasing the average effective radiated power from 1650 to 2647 watts. The station had requested the change in order to improve its signal.
The CRTC approved a technical amendment to the parameters for CFID-FM. Effective radiated power would decrease from 6,000 watts maximum / 2,647 watts average to 1,926 watts maximum / 860 watts average. Antenna height would increase from 23 metres to 47.2 metres from a new antenna site. The station would continue to use an directional antenna pattern.
On August 31, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CFID-FM to December 31, 2011.
On August 28, the CRTC administratively renewed CFID's licence until December 31, 2012. On December 21, the licence was renewed to August 31, 2018.
